Henry Butler, legendary New Orleans pianist and singer, headlines a concert to promote awareness and raise funds in support of the communities hit hard by the BP oil spill. Local musical talent including Chandler Travis as well as a short reading by local author Heidi Jon Schmidt will complete the program. WOMR, Provincetown's community radio station, will be broadcasting the event live, and sister station WWOZ in New Orleans will provide a link on their website. During the concert a number will provided for call-in donations. All funds received will be donated to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana and to the Gulf Relief Foundation.
The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana focuses on the environmental impact of the oil disaster and works to restore the damaged wetlands, using means such as 'Gulf Saver Bags' (for more information go to www.gulfsaversolutions.com).
The Gulf Relief Foundation was started by WWOZ and focuses on addressing human needs of the fishing communities following this disaster.
