Why we do this: Mary Houk, proprietor of the Sandpiper Gallery, knows firsthand the devastating effects that Alzheimers disease has on a family. For many years she and her husband Jerry were the primary caregivers for Jerrys mother, Emma Boyer. By all accounts Emma was an exceptional lady. She was the first lady torpedo inspector for the Navy during WWII after which she went on to became a member of the Apollo Lunar Team. Sadly later in life Emma was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. To honor Emmas life, Mary & Jerry will once again be hosting this fun event, full of good music, great food and unique auction items a summer highlight!
Event highlights: The evening features elegant nibbles, wine tasting, live music from the Big Jazz, raffle prizes The main event for the night is a lively auction from some of the best vendors on the Cape to benefit local families who are managing the care of a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
Donation information: If you would like to donate an item or service for the auction please fill out the form below and email it to info@alzcapecod.org or by fax at 508-360-6068.
Many thanks to Mary & Jerry Houk and the event committee for all of their hard work to produce this event in honor of Emma Boyer.
